Gainsborough Mattress Collection

A range of mattresses specifically designed for use on wooden, metal and brass bed frames with slatted or hard top bases. The unique factor of the Mattress Collection is that all the mattresses contain reflex foam which acts as a buffer against non-sprung bases, protects the spring unit and other fillings and lengthens the life of the mattress. The Windsor Bed Company strongly advise that you do not put a mattress with solely natural fillings in softer or medium tension on to a hard base. Special sizes are available in 7cm (3”) increments up to 180 x 200cm (6’0 x 6’6). The mattress spring counts are based on a standard double mattress 150 x 200cm (5’0 x 6’6) size.

Edgings and borders

All mattresses contain ‘Row 2 Row border protection’ and ‘reinforced support edging.’

Row 2 Row border protection

Every Windsor Bed Company mattress has ‘Row 2 Row border protection’ where the three outer side rows of springs are one gauge firmer than the inner springs to provide additional support and longer life, both to the mattress border and the mattress as a working unit. Firmer gauge mattresses have firmer springs throughout.

Reinforced support edging

All mattresses contain a flat strip edge and cross braces to provide a wider sleeping area and edge to edge support during the life of the mattress. Mattresses can be made to any metric size and are always delivered matching the divan exactly. N.B. All upholstery weights where applicable are stated in grams per square metre.
